Lion Sands Ivory Lodge Reopens in September 2025 after a luxury revamp
Eco Friendly Wildlife Conservation at its best!
Following a fire in December 2024, Lion Sands Ivory Lodge, one of the most iconic luxury safari lodges in South Africa’s Sabi Sand Game Reserve, is undergoing a stunning transformation. The revamp is being led by Marneweck Swart Architects, with interiors by Sarah Ord Interiors and landscaping by Tim Steyn.
While the exclusive guest suites, spa, and gym were untouched by the fire, communal areas like the bar, dining room, and kitchen are being completely rebuilt. The redesign, which began in early 2025, is scheduled for completion by 22 September 2025. With modern architecture, double-volume spaces, and panoramic views of the Sabie River, the new lodge aims to offer guests a deeper connection to nature in an ultra-luxurious setting.
The newly upgraded Ivory Lodge will feature a range of high-end additions to elevate your authentic safari experience. Highlights include a wine room, open-air bathrooms, a safari lounge, a botanical-inspired reception area, and a curated deli.
An exciting Artist Residency program will also launch, blending creativity with conservation storytelling.
The lodge’s exclusive-use Fish Eagle Residence is being enhanced with an additional en-suite bedroom, private kitchen, and extended fire and viewing decks—ideal for families or small groups. Designed with sustainability and guest comfort in mind, this new chapter for Lion Sands Ivory Lodge promises to set a new benchmark in luxury safari travel in South Africa.
